Parliaments of EU member countries
The theme of the conference was "Parliaments' Role in the European Union of the Future". The agenda included national parliaments and the Union's organs, improving the quality of legislation and other means to bring the Union closer to citizens, and involving the parliaments in countries applying for membership in the enlargement process. At the end of the conference the speakers took a trip to Tallinn to visit the Estonian Parliament. The Conference of the Secretaries General which arranged the conference was held in Helsinki in January.
